Fervor

I am very proud of E. He tried something new yesterday that neither C nor I ever tried before. He is taking part in a learn to speed skate program that runs for three months. We wanted a good physical activity for him to take part in and the local arena is home to a speed skating club. The program has a fairly low cost and with the skate rental included and very little equipment required (hockey neck guard, volleyball knee pads, soccer shin pads and leather gloves) we thought it would be a perfect fit.
He took to it surprisingly well. I must admit we were pleasantly surprised and very impressed since expected a few falls right at the beginning (we were told the first time you step on the ice it feels like you have masking tape for blades). They spent the hour doing working on skills and wrapped up the end with a game of "soccer" using their hands to dribble the ball while keeping their backs low. He had fun and is looking forward to next week.
