Off The Beaten Path

This geocaching thing rocks! We set out as family today to find a cache for E to put his travel bug in. The first one he had found was too small to fit the thing so we set out to look for another, with a small detour past the LCBO 5 minutes before close to pick up some beer . Is it wrong to put that in the basket under the stroller? Anyhoo, following E's bearings we crossed quite streets and busy steets and ended up at a park near a wooded area when the two of us ditched C and K at the playground and set out exploring. We may have never stubbled on it any other way. The pathways carried us past rolling streams, over bridges and treated us to many wildlife sightings. We can't wait to get out and do more, there is no telling what surprises are in store for us.

Comments:
Did you find anything? What was it? I think I need a handheld GPS thingy...that sounds like lots o' fun. NZ would be a great place for geocaching...lots of off the beaten track places.

As it happens, there are 860 caches on the North Island and another 1202 on the South Island (as of right now). Check out www.geocaching.com for caches near you!

Holy moly!!! I really need to get GPS unit. What would you (Jenn or Michael) suggest? What did E get?

Elliot got the megellan explorist 100 (http://www.magellangps.com/products/product.asp?segID=355)

Nothing came up on any of the local used sites but I had watched a number of units on ebay and decided to get a new one since the ebay ones were usually going for the store price anyways, not including shipping. It is a nice size and easy to use.
I hope you have lots of fun!
